Star Wars The Unaltered Trilogy Coming to Blu Ray

comicbookmovie.com
A couple of days ago I saw a rumor on the AV Club's website stating that Disney may be releasing the original unaltered Star Wars Trilogy on Blu Ray. What wonderful news I thought!!! Gone forever would be the awful CGI Jabba the Hut, and other horrendous CGI alternations, leaving us only models, puppets, and mat paintings remaining. The pure joy of it!!

But as the article points out this may not happen since Disney doesn't own the distribution rights, 20th Century Fox does. But I don't understand why these two huge movie companies wouldn't work together on this project and make this happen??

With DVD sales down across the board, this would be a sure fire way to make some money. Wouldn't it? I love the original trilogy and would in a heart beat buy the original version of the films on Blu Ray. If we can get The Wonder Years and the Adam West Batman on DVD, we should be able to get this to happen??

I kinda like the CGI in the old Star Wars. Although it would be nice to have the option to see the old original version. It's a bit like if someone restored a masterpiece painting... say the Sistine Chapel. It could be restored, much like a movie can be digitally enhanced. But you wouldn't go adding new characters to the Sistine Chapel. Imagine dinosaurs roaming among the Biblical narratives.

Ok, this is your most recent Star Wars post, so I'm going to leave a thought here... even though it's nothing to do with trilogy or blu ray.

Erik is really missing out on looking at the previews for Star Wars. Topps has been releasing promo cards for the upcoming Star Wars movie. So cool! http://www.beckett.com/news/2015/08/star-wars-the-force-awakens-promos-popping-up-in-several-places/

Those cards look so freakin' cool!!!! We need to fix this with Erik. He needs to at least see the trailers and the cards. Plus it was just announced that September 2nd they will begin showing the toys!

Oh wow. On Force Friday, I'm going to have to keep that Youtube channel up on my iphone or some second screen.

I'm tempted to make some postcards and mail them to Erik. But if he wants to be secluded from it, so be it. Although he does need to realize the Star Wars universe is really more than just the movies. It's totally all about the merchandising and licensing. That's how that franchise got so big back in the day. The toys and preview are just as much part of the franchise as the movies.

I'm always amazed how how much photography and archiving there was done for the original making of the movies. There always seems to be photosets I haven't seen about behind-the-scenes information. That sort of preview stuff helps to make Star Wars the huge thing that is.
