About two weeks ago, I heard an absolutely incredible interview on the podcast series 99% Invisible. Host Roman Mars welcomed professor of sociology and director of the Institute for Public Knowledge at New York University Eric Klinenberg, to discuss his new book "Palaces for the People: How Social Infrastructure Can Help Fight Inequality, Polarization, and the Decline of Civic Life".
Immediately after I heard the interview, I had the book placed on hold at my local branch of the Chicago Public Library. The ideas and solutions Klinenberg present are utterly fascinating, and at the same time common sense. I highly recommend listening to the interview, and checking out the book. Both are necessary reads and listens.
